Wildflowers for waste or poor ground are an easy sell. His 2020 comments relate to his expertise being ignored by a roomful of planners & architects, one-upping a horticultural expert with their populist 'style' ideas. The general public do not value the academic & deep knowledge of an Ethnobiologist. I was quietly put in my place by a professional Horticulturalist when I referred to 'English' Elderflower: he said there were 27 species of Elderflower found worldwide. So, Mr Wong's image as a Public Intellectual isn't doing well, but that doesn't mean his frustration at other professionals' narrow minded stupidity isn't racism lol.

This is not great for solitary bees, the house needs to be stationary, the bees dont need to be brought inside at most you can put them in a covered garage or shed if you wanted. And its also important that these reeds need to be replaced every season to prevent disease and infestation of other bugs. If you dont clean out your bee tubes you're creating a death trap for your bees people.

My children and I started nature journaling a few years ago as part of our home education journey. It's been a brilliant experience that is getting better as the children get older. I can highly recommend "Exploring Nature with Children" - obviously it's aimed at families, but I've learnt so much too by following this curriculum.

The less fertile the ground the better. This slows down the growth of grasses and more invasive weeds that will dominate.

I've seen two different techniques for wildflower seeds. Some say to scatter over the ground and leave to germinate becuase they need sunlight and some say to cover them lightly. I wonder which technique produces the best results.
